President Armen Sarkissian received a group of doctors

Today, President Armen Sarkissian received a group of doctors. More than 500 members of the medical community wrote an open letter to the President in connection with the arrest of Professor Armen Charchyan, director of the Izmirlian Medical Centre.

During the conversation with the doctors, President Sarkissian greatly appreciated the medical workers’ merit in ensuring the health security of our country, particularly mentioning their dedicated work, during the war and in the fight against the coronavirus. In this context, the President also praised Professor Armen Charchyan's professional contribution and merit in establishing and developing the healthcare system of the Republic of Armenia, as well as in providing medical care to our compatriots who suffered as a result of the 44-day war.

The doctors expressed their gratitude for the respect shown to them by the President of the Republic and the Presidential Institute and for the response to their letter.

The President of the Republic noted that legal issues must be resolved only in the legal sphere. At the same time, he stressed the importance of the lawful application of the law, and ensuring the rule of law.

He noted that Constitution defines the powers of the RA President, and he acts exclusively within the framework of those powers.
