We greatly appreciate the attitude that France has towards Armenia and the Armenian people. President Armen Sarkissian received Secretary of State Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne

Today, President Armen Sarkissian received Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, Secretary of State of the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, who is in Yerevan on behalf of the President of France Emanuel Macron to take part in the commemoration ceremonies of the 106th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

Secretary of State Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne noted that it is important to him to be in Armenia on the 106th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, and the 20th anniversary of its recognition by France to pay tribute to the memory of the victims. He passed to President Sarkissian a letter from the French President Emanuel Macron on the 106th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

President Sarkissian asked to convey his gratitude to President Macron for being by the side of the Armenian people. "This letter demonstrates the friendship that exists between our countries and peoples, the attitude that France has towards Armenia, and the Armenian people, which we greatly appreciate. We felt the friendship of France during the war as well and witnessed the manifestation of true friendship and readiness to support."

President Sarkissian and Secretary of State Lemoyne touched upon the Armenian-French relations, emphasizing that the two friendly countries have a great potential for developing cooperation.

President Sarkissian also spoke about the war against Artsakh unleashed by Azerbaijan with the support of Turkey and its consequences, addressing humanitarian issues in this context, emphasizing the priority of the return of Armenian prisoners of war and civilians by Azerbaijan. He noted that Armenia expects the support of the international community and its friends in this issue.

President Sarkissian and Secretary of State Lemoyne also exchanged views on regional and international issues.
