The President of the Republic Armen Sarkissian met with the Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin

Today, the President of the Republic Armen Sarkissian visited the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, and met with His Holiness Karekin II, the Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians.

The President of the Republic and His Holiness touched upon the situation after the Artsakh war and humanitarian issues, especially the work undertaken to return the Armenian prisoners-of-war and civilians held on the Azerbaijani side, and find the missing and the bodies of the victims.

They discussed issues related to the preservation of Artsakh's spiritual and cultural heritage as well. In particular, they were concerned about the barbaric attitude to the historical monuments and sanctuaries on the territories under the control of Azerbaijan.

The President of the Republic and His Holiness also touched upon the situation in the country, the ways of overcoming the internal political crisis, and other national problems and challenges.
