During the meeting with the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, President Armen Sarkissian raised the issues of returning the Armenian prisoners-of-war and civilians
Today, President Armen Sarkissian received the delegation led by Sweden’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Anne Linde.
President Sarkissian welcomed the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, noting that Sweden, with which our country has dynamically developing relations, took over the OSCE Chair at important and most difficult times for Armenia.
The President touched upon the war unleashed by Azerbaijan against Artsakh, its consequences, the current situation and challenges. This context comprised regional security and stability questions.
Noting that the current situation in the region is in the focus of the OSCE attention, as OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Anne Linde attached importance to the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs and the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office to find a solution for establishing a long-term and stable peace.
In particular, President Armen Sarkissian touched upon humanitarian issues, noting that Azerbaijan keeps violating international humanitarian law by detaining Armenian prisoners-of-war and civilians. He underlined that Armenia expects support from international partners to resolve this most important issue.
The sides discussed the priorities of the Swedish chairpersonship in the OSCE and the Armenian-Swedish bilateral relations. They noted that the two countries have a great potential to cooperate and gave due weight to its full-value implementation.
