I profoundly feel your pain and I am ready to support you. President Armen Sarkissian met with the family members of the missing
Today, President Armen Sarkissian met with the family members of those reported missing during the Artsakh war. The Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan, the RA Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan, and the Chief Advisor to the Minister of Defense Major General Arthur Simonyan were also present at the meeting. Relatives of the missing had wished to meet with them at a meeting with the Chief of the Office of the President of the Republic a few days before.
The meeting participants asked the President of the Republic Armen Sarkissian to use his international connections and authority to support finding their missing sons. President Sarkissian assured that he would exert all his influence for the prisoners of war and the missing are always in the centre of his attention; he raises these issues in all his meetings with international partners. A few days ago, he discussed the matter with Lieutenant General Rustam Muradov, Commander of the Russian peacekeeping contingent in Nagorno-Karabakh. "Besides that, together with the Human Rights Defender, Mr. Tatoyan, we will apply to various international institutions on both the prisoners of war and the missing. We will work in every possible way. Azerbaijan should not make our wounded or healthy captives part of the deal. It is inadmissible."
The Minister of Health, the Human Rights Defender, and the Ministry of Defense representative introduced the search for the missing and answered the questions. President Sarkissian offered to regularly inform the relatives of the missing about the work done and the situation. "I profoundly feel your pain, and I am ready to support in any way I can," said the President, suggesting that they be in touch with the Presidential institution.
The President of the Republic also answered the questions of the relatives of the missing and listened to their concerns, viewpoints, and suggestions.
