Today, President of the Republic Armen Sarkissian received a delegation led by EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the Crisis in Georgia Toivo Klaar. The Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, EU Ambassador Andrea Victorin also participated in the meeting.
The interlocutors touched upon the new realities of the post-war period and the issues of security and stability in the region. The EU Special Representative reaffirmed the European Union's support for the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs and the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
President Armen Sarkissian particularly touched upon pivotal humanitarian issues of the immediate return of the Armenian captives, servicemen, and civilians detained in Azerbaijan, as well as the search of the missing and their return to the Armenian side.
Speaking about the new challenges that emerged in the post-war period, President Sarkissian referred to the demarcation and delimitation processes, and especially the matters related to the security of the border communities of the Syunik region.
During the meeting, the interlocutors also exchanged views on the agenda of the Armenia-EU partnership.
