STARMUS VI International Festival as a unique tool to boost tourism
At the initiative of President Armen Sarkissian and assistance of the government of Armenia, on September 6-11, 2021 the STARMUS VI International Festival of Science and Arts is to be held in Armenia.
President Sarkissian suggested hosting the festival one year ago, during the STARMUS V Festival in Zurich. It is envisaged that next year in September Armenia for one week will become an international center of technologies, science, music and arts. Thousands of participants and visitors will include Noble Prize winners, renowned scholars and musicians, a great number of our compatriots.
President Sarkissian is confident that the world-famous scientists during one week through their meetings and lectures will not only convey new ideas and notions to the participants but will also inspire our scientists and young people, especially because guiding the young people toward science and new technologies is one of the Festival’s objectives.
At the same time, the President of Armenia viewed the STARMUS VI International Festival as an important step for tourism development.
Noting that conditioned by the pandemic tourism and related hospitality, services and restaurant businesses are in a pretty difficult situation, the President expects that next year the situation in the tourism area will improve considerably because of the STARMUS Festival. Actually, the Festival is a unique tool to boost the area of tourism which is especially important considering the current problems.
Representatives of the tourism area, whom the President of Armenia regularly meets with, agreed with the President and expressed confidence that Armenia has much to show and present. Touristic infrastructure existing in our country allows to provide for a decent level of hospitality for the visitors; during the STARMUS VI there will be those among the guests whose visit to our country could raise interest and become an impetus for the tourist flows. The unique historical and cultural heritage we have could become an attraction especially for those who appreciate arts and culture.
But along with all this, it is necessary to make players of the field active participants of the process. President Armen Sarkissian has been stressing this during his meetings with the heads of touristic agencies.
