President Armen Sarkissian met with the Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II at the Holy See of Saint Etchmiadzin

President Armen Sarkissian on the weekend visited the Holy See of Saint Etchmiadzin and met with the Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians His Holiness Garegin II.

The President of Armenia and His Holiness spoke about the military actions unleashed recently by Azerbaijan at the Tavush segment of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and shelling by the Azerbaijani armed forces of peaceful Armenian settlements. They stressed as important and significant that the clergy of the Saint Armenian Apostolic Church in Armenia and in Diaspora alike, just like throughout the course of our history, today too, stand by the Fatherland, next to our troops defending peace and security, and encourage and support with prayers and spiritual words the defenders of our Fatherland.

The President and Supreme Patriarch spoke about the most important issues of the national and Church life, strengthening of the Fatherland-Diaspora relations.

President Sarkissian thanked the Catholicos of All Armenians for the assistance programs implemented by the Armenian Apostolic Church in the course of the coronavirus pandemic.
