President Sarkissian met with the President of the American University of Armenia Karin Markides

President Armen Sarkissian hosted today the President of the American University of Armenia Dr. Karin Markides.

At the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the role of education in the contemporary world, importance to have education in line with the changes going on in the world, links between universities and economy, and a number of other issues.

The President of the AUA presented to Armen Sarkissian programs implemented by the University, particularly, new initiatives related to the IT area, and noted that they plan to establish cooperation between educational institutions, research centers, and businesses.

The interlocutors spoke also about the Presidential ATOM initiative, aimed at the development of science and technologies in Armenia, and opportunities of cooperation in its framework.
