President Armen Sarkissian: we must do everything for Artsakh to become a strong state
“We have done and will do everything, working day and night, so that the Republic of Artsakh, as a political and state unit, becomes a strong state - strong economically, politically, and also democratically,” President Armen Sarkissian said in his conversation with the member of the National Assembly representing My Step fraction Tatevik Hairapetian and political scientist Edgar Elbakian. He noted that today democracy is an important factor in the entire world and has become the base for the resolution of the problems related to security, politics, economy, and many other issues.
According to the President of Armenia, Artsakh has abundant resources to increase considerably its human capital and move forward in its development. Practical steps should be taken on that direction.
Another important problem according to President Sarkissian is food security. In his words, Artsakh has every opportunity to actively engage in food production. “Today we have problems related to coronavirus, and those are painful problems, which take human lives, tomorrow we will be facing economic problems. Along with economic problems, we will be facing problems related to food security. When it comes to food security, there are almost no self-sufficient states in the world,” he said.
Stressing the importance of economy, democracy, and food security areas, President Sarkissian spoke about the necessity of have a national, state program on that issues. “This is not only about Artsakh. The entire territory of Armenia must be in the focus of our attention,” the President underscored. “We need conceptual changes, we need to change our attitude.”
