President Armen Sarkissian received the Speaker of the National Assembly of Artsakh: Artsakh proved once again that its people think and act as a state

President Armen Sarkissian hosted today the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Artsakh Arthur Tovmassian.

President Sarkissian congratulated once again the newly elected Speaker of Artsakh’s National Assembly and its members and noted that the election proved once again that Artsakh has established itself as a democratic country. “Artsakh proved once again that its people think and act as a state,” Armen Sarkissian underscored and wished Arthur Tovmassian success for the benefit of development of the Republic of Artsakh.

Speaker Arthur Tovmassian thanked the President for hosting him and assured that would continue to take steps aimed at the development of Artsakh-Armenia interparliamentary relations and efficient cooperation. “Today’s meeting adds to my responsibility as the Speaker of the parliament,” he said.

Speaking of the prospects of Artsakh’s development, President Sarkissian stressed the importance of defining priorities. He highlighted especially the demographic issue, underscored that it is important to assist and encourage people to settle in Artsakh through concrete programs. He noted that it could be a huge investment into the economy of Artsakh and Armenia and important from the viewpoint of food security.
