President Armen Sarkissian initiated a series of on-line lectures which aim to ensure continuous educational process for students through the application of distant learning. To make classes more engaging and to enhance students’ educational and research skills and interest, Armen Sarkissian also assigned the students with homework in the form of a contest, particularly the students of the Departments of Mathematics and Mechanics, Physics, Computer Science and Applied Mathematics, and the Department of Oriental Studies of the Yerevan State University, and offered to write papers on a number of topics.
President Sarkissian’s proposal found response not only with the students of the YSU but also students from a number of Armenian and foreign universities.
More than 50 papers were sent to the Presidential Administration on three main topics – the role and place of the Middle East in the contemporary world, mathematical modeling of viruses, and mechanisms to enhance safety of the medical personnel during pandemics.
Papers on mathematical modeling and medicine were presented not only by individual students but also by groups. From these areas four papers were selected and three – from the Oriental Studies papers. The papers were summarized by a working group created at the Presidential Administration. Authors of the selected papers were hosted at the Presidential Office.
The President congratulated the winners and thanked them for accepting his proposal and for presenting interesting research papers. President Sarkissian handed them awards – books and electronic devices.
President Armen Sarkissian inquired about future plans and aspirations of the students and wished them success. He urged them to continue research on the presented topics and to inform him regularly on their achievements. He also expressed readiness to assist the young people if needed. “Continue to create, to work. It is not only interesting and useful for you but also pleasurable,” the President said.
The students in their turn thanked the President of Armenia and noted that such initiatives and receiving prizes from the President were inspiring for endeavoring new achievements.
