President Armen Sarkissian had another distant conversation with the students of the Yerevan branch of the Plekhanov University of Economics: future is in your hands, and my task is to assist you

Today, President Armen Sarkissian had a distant meeting-conversation with the students of the Yerevan branch of the Plekhanov University of Economics of Russia during which he spoke about the coronavirus pandemic, its consequences, and impact.

At the outset, the President urged everyone to be very serious about the pandemic. “It is pretty aggressive. It is possible that it differs a lot from other viruses but since we are living in a totally different world, the chance to get infected is higher than it was 50 or 100 years ago. That’s why it is important to maintain distance and not to contaminate others,” the President noted. “Young people, who sometimes don’t even feel they got infected, can pass the virus directly to the third or fourth persons, their loved ones, who have chronic diseases, are elderly and are not ready to fend off such “attack”. I would like to take this opportunity and ask you all once again to be very serious about that.”

President Sarkissian underscored that since the world and means of communications have changed, viruses such as this one, become more dangerous.

“We will be having new achievements in technologies, science, this or that area every day. It means that we will be constantly developing and very fast.

The world is changing rapidly, and in 10 years, you will see yourselves that the world will be fundamentally different from the one we have today,” the President noted. “Coronavirus just speeded it all up and showed that the old world has gone, there will be a new world which is half virtual. That world will be much faster, decisions must be taken much faster, it will be necessary to use all, and not only physical but also virtual tools. Probably it will be a much more chaotic but probably much more manageable world, with greater potential related on what you, as citizens of this world, will chose.”

In the conclusion of the conversation, President Sarkissian noted that one of the objectives of the older generation is to pass on to the young their experience and to get them ready for the future. “We all have one goal – we want you to be healthy, smart, educated so that we can pass on to you everything we were able to do right or advice you how to correct things. Armenia’s future is in your hands, and my task is to assist you.”

Armen Sarkissian advised students of the Yerevan branch of the Russian university to maintain Armenian-Russian friendly relations. “Friendship between the two countries did not just happen, it is historical. Trust, which has existed for years between Armenia and Russia, Armenians and Russians, should continue also because of you.”

The President responded also to the questions of the students related to the new trends in globalization, Armenia’s future, Presidential initiatives, particularly the creation of the Hay Park on the territory of the Armenian Genocide Memorial in Tsitsernakaberd.
