President Armen Sarkissian hosted a group of freedom fighters: you went to war because you listened to your heart

President Armen Sarkissian hosted today a group of freedom fighters. Participants to the Artsakh war Lernik Matevossian, Hakop Aghajanian and Hrach Abrahamian met with the President and had a brief conversation days ago, at the Erablur military pantheon on the Shushi Liberation Day when President Sarkissian paid tribute to the memory of the heroes who gave their lives for the Fatherland.

President proposed that they continue the conversation in his office. The freedom fighters present at the today’s meeting told Armen Sarkissian about their life and current problems. At the same time, they stressed the importance of attention and care toward the freedom fighters and toward the war veterans in general.

President Sarkissian inquired about their health and social conditions. He hailed contribution of all volunteers and military servicemen who participated at the Artsakh Liberation War. The President of Armenia thanked the freedom fighters and said in particular, “First of all, I thank you for your heart’s duty; you went to war because you listened to your heart.” The President said that the victory was achieved through our joint efforts, and the freedom fighters should be in the center not only of the state’s but our general attention. “The state should be proud of its troops and freedom fighters, and you should be proud to be citizens of this country,” President Sarkissian said and underscored that the attitude toward the volunteers and servicemen in every sense, from the material to ethical, should be special.

The freedom fighters stressed that regardless of the existing problems they continue to view themselves as soldiers of the Fatherland and if necessary are ready at any moment to defend its security.
