President Armen Sarkissian discussed via a video call the situation created by the new coronavirus with the Ambassador of India to Armenia
President Armen Sarkissian continues consultations with international partners on the prevention, containtment, and treatment of the coronavirus pandemic. In this context, President Armen Sarkissian held today a video call with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to the Republic of Armenia H.E. Mr. Kishan Dan Dewal. President Armen Sarkissian and the Ambassador of India spoke about the situation in their respective countries related to the outbreak of the coronavirus, steps taken towards its containment and treatment. They spoke also about the measures to mitigate huge damage caused to the economies by the virus and its rehabilitation, alleviation of the social burden, and steps aimed at the resolution of labor-related issues.
Noting that India has registered impressive progress and development in the area of biology, particulary, molecular biology, pharmaceuticals, including the production of generic drugs, which can be important especially in the current situation, President Sarkissian discussed with the Ambassador of India opportunities for cooperation in these areas.
The President of Armenia asked the Ambassador to convey his support to the President of India Ram Nath Kovind and his old friend, Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The parties agreed through a direct connection to regularly exchange information on the current situation, measures and solutions to overcome it.
During the conversation discussed was also the Presidential ATOM initiative. Ambassador Kishan Dan Dewal underscored that the Indian side is interested in the cooperation in the framework of this initiative.
