President Sarkissian received the Ambassador of Finland: Armenia and Finland have prospects of cooperation

President Armen Sarkissian received today the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Finland to the Republic of Armenia Arja Makkonen (residence in Helsinki).

Speaking of the Armenian-Finn relations, President of Armenia said that the two countries have great opportunities for developing the mutually beneficial cooperation. “We have many similarities and can learn a lot from each other,” he underscored.
The interlocutors discussed the opportunities of cooperation between the presidential institutes of the two countries. Considering the rich experience and traditions Finland has in the area of parliamentary governance, President Sarkissian proposed to view the possibility of cooperation between the presidential structures of the two countries, particularly, reciprocal visits of the presidential administration staff and experience exchange programs. The President said that the purpose is to have a strong presidential institute under the parliamentary system of governance and form traditions.

Noting that Finland has registered a great advancement in the area of modern technologies, President Sarkissian said that the development of this area is also a priority for Armenia.

President Armen Sarkissian told that the presidential institute has its own initiative aimed at the technological development which is named ATOM. It strives to bring to Armenia international companies famous in the area of information and high technologies where they can work in the areas of development of artificial intelligence, mathematical modeling, and others. He said that he would be glad to see on this platform, along with other technological partners, also the companies from Finland.
