President Armen Sarkissian hosted the President of Greece Prokopis Pavlopoulos: Welcome to Armenia, welcome home
A meeting between the President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian and President of Greece Prokopis Pavlopoulos took place today at the Presidential Palace. “Distinguished Mr. President, dear friend, welcome to Armenia, welcome to your home,” President Sarkissian said addressing the President of Greece. “The friendship of our peoples needs no further words because thousands of years proved that our peoples hand in hand created culture, education, and history. We had victories and great tragedies, very often we had them together. Your today’s visit to the Republic of Armenia is historic also because we are entering a new, 21st century. The world is changing and is changing fast, but the nations which have a history of working and fighting together, as well as a desire to become successful states, in difficult situations too, in the constantly changing circumstances will be able to make right decisions and find right solutions.”
President Sarkissian noted particularly as interesting the efforts of Greece on one side, which is a member of the European Union, and Armenia on the other, which is a member of the Eurasian Economic Union, to establish deeper relations.
President Prokopis Pavlopoulos thanked for the warm welcome and hospitality. “Relations between the two states and peoples are strong and deep. We have a pretty impressive opportunity to develop our relations. We have many similarities but also we have a common pain. We know all too well and appreciate the value of independence and democracy and importance of the struggle for the recognition of the Armenian Genocide,” he said.
