Newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Korea presented his credentials to President Armen Sarkissian: Armenia and Korea can successfully cooperate in the areas of science and technologies

Today, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Armenia Lee Sok-bae (residence in Moscow) presented his credentials to the President of Armenia.

Armen Sarkissian congratulated him on assuming the post of ambassador and said, “Even though geographically we are located far from each other, there are things that we can do together. We are two ancient peoples, which had difficult periods in our history, but we both have qualities of survivors. We are hopeful that your tenure in office will be productive and will promote cooperation and friendship between our two countries, working for the implementation of new, including economic projects.”

Stressing the importance of cooperation in the cultural area, President Sarkissian offered to present Korean culture more often in Armenia, including at the Presidential Palace which is open for concerts and exhibitions and where a number of cultural events have already been held. Ambassador Lee Sok-bae conveyed to the President of Armenia warm greetings and good wishes from the President of Korea Moon Jae-in and noted, “It is a great honor for me to serve as the ambassador of the Republic of Korea in this wonderful country, Armenia. I will do my best to make relations between our countries closer.”

The parties concurred that the two countries can successfully cooperate in the areas of science and technology, particularly in mathematics and artificial intelligence. They also stressed the importance of invigorating contacts and ties between the business communities of Armenia and South Korea, learning more about each other and the existing opportunities.

Speaking about potential of cooperation in the economic area, President Sarkissian noted that currently Armenia is interacting closely with the Eurasian Economic Union and EU in the framework of CEPA and could become a good bridge for cooperation. Ambassador of Korea said that his country is examining the opportunities existing in the Eurasian market and economic cooperation with the member states.
