President Sarkissian received representatives of the “Teach, Armenia” educational fund: Modern country means modern education
President Armen Sarkissian received today representatives of the “Teach, Armenia” educational fund headed by the founder and director of the organization Larisa Hovhannisian.
The leadership of the Fund presented to Armen Sarkissian projects implemented in the five years of the Fund’s existence and noted that they are aimed at expanding and developing the educational opportunities for the children in Armenia.
President Sarkissian stressed the importance of the Fund’s activities and underscored once again the necessity of high-class education for the country’s development. “Speaking of a modern country, we need to understand that modern country means modern education, high-quality and well-educated professionals,” he underlined. Director of “Teach, Armenia” Larisa Hovhannisian spoke about the future programs of the Fund and informed in particular that through the cooperation with the “Education for All” international network this fall an international conference named “How to prepare young people to build a changing world” will be held in Armenia, and presented the details of the conference.
President Sarkissian welcomed the idea of holding such a prestigious conference in our country and expressed readiness to bring his participation.
Larisa Hovhannisian spoke also of their new initiative – “Health for Armenia” Fund and noted that it was created based on the model and experience of the “Teach, Armenia” Fund. «Health for Armenia» Fund will recruit family doctors and nurses and will dispatch them to rural areas where they are needed. Armen Sarkissian welcomed the project and wished every success, noting that it is a proper and timely initiative.
