Macron sent a letter to Armen Sarkissian: France will continue to fight for justice side by side with Armenia
President of France Emmanuel Macron sent a letter to the President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian in which he informs that as he has pledged earlier, starting this year, April 24 will be commemorated officially in France as the Day of Remembrance of the Armenian Genocide.
President Macron noted that France side by side with Armenia will continue to fight for justice and truth. “It is our duty to Armenia and the Armenian people, as well as to the survivors and refugees whom France had accepted with open arms and whose descendants created the history of our country.
To be able to create a common destiny, it is necessary to face the past, to bow to memory of the dead and to respect memories of those living. It is my conviction, and I know that Armenia shares it. We will stand by you at the time of commemoration, we will stand by you also for the future of Armenia now, when its history opens a new page and which should be the page of peace and prosperity,” reads the letter of the President of the French Republic.
Emmanuel Macron added that France and Armenia, going hand in hand are proud of their friendship and are confident about their future.
