On the occasion of Victory and Peace Holiday President Sarkissian visited Victory Park
On the occasion of Victory and Peace Holiday, President Armen Sarkissian visited today Victory Park.
President Sarkissian, His Holiness Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenian Garegin II, high-ranking state officials, the highest leadership of the RA Armed Forces, veterans, representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited to Armenia laid flowers at the eternal flame of the Unknown Soldier’s monument and paid tribute to the memory of the heroes who gave their lives to defend Fatherland and bring peace. Participants of the event observed also parade of the RA Armed Forces and Russian military base servicemen.
Later, the President of Armenia visited the field kitchen, which traditionally opens in the Park on the occasion of the holiday, and congratulated the veterans gathered around dinner tables served in the tent. In the conversation with the journalists, speaking about the message and significance of the day, President Sarkissian said, “Our victories are special because those are national victories. If we go back 100 years and think about Sardarapat, Bash Aparkan, victories we had before the First Republic, we will see that they all are national victories, because it was not only the Armenian army that was fighting but the entire nation. The same is true for the World War II. The same happened in the Artsakh liberation war, and April war.
In critical times our nation unites and strives for victory. It is a very important fact,” President Armen Sarkissian underscored.
