President Sarkissian announced a new presidential program at the Ara Sargsyan and Hakop Kojoyan home-museum

Today, President Armen Sarkissian and Mrs. Nouneh Sarkissian visited the Ara Sargsyan and Hakop Kojoyan home-museum in Yerevan.

President Sarkissian and Mrs. Sarkissian, who know quite well the works of the two great artists of the 20th century, accompanied by the director of the museum Anna Sargsyan, toured the premise, observed the exhibition, learned about the working conditions, and related problems.

After the tour, the President of Armenia spoke about his program for the museum. “I intend to organize an exhibition at the Presidential Palace to present four artists – Ara Sargsyan, Hakop Kojoyan, Rafael Israelian, and Ara Harutyunian. The notion behind this is the following: To remember once again our great artists, whose contribution to the art is huge and whose pieces are of great value.”

Noting that such events should first and foremost serve the people as well as inspire young artists, who can also exhibit their works at the Presidential Palace, Armen Sarkissian reminded that cultural events at the Presidential Palace commenced with the concert of the renowned pianist Svetlana Navassardian.

The President of Armenia underscored that we need to be more attentive towards our culture and history. “Should we forget our history and think that life is only what’s happening today, or that contemporary artists are the best, we will never have fine arts,” President Sarkissian said. According to the President, events like this organized at the Presidential Palace might encourage the flow of visitors to the museums, exhibitions, and cultural events in general.
