World Bank and Armenia have a rich history of cooperation: Armen Sarkissian and Cyril Muller met back in 1996
President Armen Sarkissian received today a delegation headed by the Vice President of the World Bank for Europe and Central Asia Cyril Muller.
Noting that Armenia and World Bank have a rich history of cooperation, the Vice President of the World Bank recalled their meeting with Armen Sarkissian back in 1996. He was that very person who presented the first WB document on the development of the strategic areas of the Armenian economy to the then-Prime Minister Armen Sarkissian.
President Sarkissian stressed the importance of Armenia’s cooperation with WB in different areas and expressed hope that the existing interaction would continue.
The parties discussed the ongoing programs, as well as the Country Partnership Framework strategic paper which defines the priorities of the Armenia-World Bank cooperation for the next four years.
The parties concurred that great potential for cooperation exists in the areas of high technologies, education, agriculture, and tourism, as well as the opportunities to implement joint regional programs.
