President Sarkissian congratulated on the occasion of Women’s Day and Month: Let’s make year 2019 the year of Armenian women, Armenian mothers, and Armenian girls

President Sarkissian visited today V. Brusov Yerevan State Linguistic University and met with the faculty of the University.

“I am greatly honored to be here at this major educational establishment,” the President of Armenia said and went on, “My contacts with the Brusov University started when I was a student. I believe that the Brusov University is one of the most established universities of Armenia because of its kind, quality, and principles. This is a brilliant university because it has educated multiple generations, has produced for our country bright individuals and great names. Minutes ago, we inaugurated a classroom which will carry the names of the graduates of this university – Gevorg and Gohar Vardanians.”

The President noted that he was aware that 90 percent of the students here are girls and used the opportunity to congratulate all girls and women on the approaching March 8 and Women’s Month. “Throughout my life, March 8 has been a holiday of women, motherhood, deep womanly values,” the President said. “I am glad that we are having not one day but an entire month dedicated to women, from March 8 to April 7. Actually the best would be to have the whole year dedicated to women, and the whole year to be attentive towards our mothers, sisters, wives, and girls, young and beautiful students strolling down your corridors.

The role of our mothers and wives in our life is huge. Let’s not forget that each of us starts his or her life because of mothers, and from day one, our mothers are our main link to the world. The mothers cherish little ones, the mothers teach to walk in this world, the mothers teach the first Armenian words, teach the kids our faith. We mature as human beings because of our mothers.”

The President of Armenia noted with satisfaction that the women’s role in the society, in public is gradually growing, in the political and in the business life too. “I have many examples when women entrepreneurs are much more organized, talented, and much more efficient in their work than my fellow men,” President Sarkissian said. He underscored that Armenians abroad stay Armenian because of a number of reasons, including family, the Church, school, and in the family - first of all because of mothers. “One of our greatest national values, probably the greatest, is our Armenian family. Family is the foundation of our state, of our statehood, and in general, it is the base of our nation’s existence.”

Armen Sarkissian congratulated the ladies present at the meeting and in their person, all mothers, sisters, and girls of our country and Artsakh. The President appealed to the men, “Let’s after being considerate for a whole month, make year 2019 the year of Armenian women, Armenian mothers, and Armenian girls.”
