President Armen Sarkissian received the WB Armenia Country Manager

President Armen Sarkissian hosted today the Country Manager of the World Bank for Armenia Sylvie Bossoutrot. At the meeting, the parties discussed a number of issues pertinent to the Armenia-WB cooperation agenda.

The President of Armenia underscored the efficient cooperation with the World Bank and noted that the collaboration with the international financial institutions, with the WB is very important for our country. According to the President, the economic growth, sustainable and rapid growth are the main tools for the reduction of poverty in our country. Joint programs, implemented together with the WB, should be aimed at the resolution of the existing problems employing these tools.

Sylvie Bossoutrot noted that the Country Partnership Framework strategic paper on cooperation with Armenia is being drafted now and would outline the priorities for the cooperation. It will rest on three pillars: boosting the exports and competition, development of human capital, as well as ecology and resource management.

President Sarkissian stressed the importance of developing high technologies, education, and science in the country and said in this context that his personal efforts are directed at the encouragement of high technologies and innovations, noted that there exists potential for the efficient cooperation.
