President participated at the closing of the Sevan Startup Summit 2018
In the evening of July 28, President Armen Sarkissian and his spouse Nouneh Sarkissian participated at the closing ceremony of the Sevan Startup Summit 2018.
Before that, President Sarkissian accompanied by the organizers of the event and a group of participants, toured the premise, familiarized with the conditions in the camp, learned about educational projects and competitions during a one-week event for startups, as well as about the forthcoming plans and initiatives.
Later, President Sarkissian around the camp fire conversed candidly with the participants of the event. He said that he came to meet with the next generation of the leaders of the 21st century because in the 21st century the main resource for countries’ development will be knowledge and ideas, startups and applications.
Addressing the audience, President Sarkissian said, “Dream bravely. If you dream big, make great projects and work hard, you will most certainly achieve your dream. Break stereotypes, reveal things which others have not noticed. Be free in your ideas and visions, be creative, be afraid of nothing. Always remember that if you have trust in your own self, if you move towards your goal, you will become what you want to be.” He also responded to the questions of those present.
During the closing ceremony, President Sarkissian welcomed the idea of holding Sevan Startup Summit and wished that it became a global event, bringing together in Armenia all those interested in innovative technologies and ideas from all over the world. The President made an announcement that next year there will be another award for startups – Presidential Award, as well as a special award for the organizers. He also expressed readiness to assist in the organization of the event in every possible way.
The objective of the Sevan Startup Summit is to establish links between the startups and investors and to reveal new avenues for cooperation. This year, the event was attended by over 1000 entrepreneurs from 35 countries, including 120 startup teams, investors, representatives of venture funds, a mentor, and a business professional.
