Ara Vardanian presented his letter of resignation to President Sarkissian

Today, President Armen Sarkissian received the Executive Director of the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund Ara Vardanian who presented his letter of resignation related to the charges against him on abuse of office.

As the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Fund, President Sarkissian took noted of Ara Vardanian’s letter of resignation.

According to the procedure, the letter will be sent to the members of the Board of Trustees for consent, after which a special commission will be set up which will elect new Executive Director through a competition.

With regard to the situation around the Hayastan Fund, President Sarkissian noted that since the establishment of the Third Armenian Republic, the Fund has been implementing important and useful programs and united national and spiritual structures, benefactors and hundreds of thousands of individuals. Thus, the Fund has still a mission to accomplish in Armenia, Artsakh, and in Spyurk.

At the same time, it is quite clear that the Fund needs new administrative and conceptual approaches to enhance its efficiency, trustworthiness, and repute.

It is no accident that at the May 25 session of the Board of Trustees, the President of Armenia assigned three months to present proposals on fundamental changes to improve the works of the Fund.

President Armen Sarkissian expressed hope the Hayastan Fund will overcome these trials and will emerge as a new structure, worthy of the New Armenia’s aspirations and ready for the existing challenges.
