President of France Emmanuel Macron sent a message to the President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian
On April 24, the President of France Emmanuel Macron sent a message to the President of the Republic of Armenia Armen Sarkissian.
The message reads:
“Mister President,
Together with you we remember the carnage of 600 Armenian intellectuals on April 24, 1915 in Constantinople which signified the beginning of the first genocide of the 20th century. We will never forget murdered men, women and children who perished on the deportation routes from hunger, cold, and exhaustion.
France, which through the voices of George Clemenceau, Anatole France, and Jean Jaurese condemned the Armenian massacres, received many of the survivors. Together with Great Britain and Russia, France back on May 25 of 1915 termed those massacre a crime against humanity and civilization. In September of 1915, French fleet under fire managed to save 4000 refugees of Musa Dagh.
Memories of the Genocide and significance of its lessons touch every one of us. On this day of commemoration of the 103rd anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, I send you and you people my warmest and friendliest sentiments.
Please accept, Mister President, the assurances of my highest consideration.”
