Newly appointed Ireland Ambassador hands credentials
Today, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ireland to the Republic of Armenia Michael Forbes (residence in Sofia) presented his credentials to RA President Serzh Sargsyan.
Congratulating the Ambassador on assumption of office, the President wished him every success in his diplomatic mission in our country and expressed the hope that Ambassador Forbes would spare no effort to boost the Armenian-Irish political dialogue, expand the scope of joint efforts in a bid to tap the potential inherent in bilateral relations. The President stressed the importance of reciprocated high-level visits, intensified inter-parliamentary ties and improved legal framework.
Noting that the two countries are successfully cooperating in the frame of international organizations, the President of Armenia considered it necessary to further strengthen and build on the ongoing cooperation.
Thankful for the reception, Michael Forbes emphasized that those areas mentioned by the President are among his priorities, and his goal is to promote the development of bilateral relations and catalyze the political dialogue during his term of office in order to discuss all issues of mutual interest in an atmosphere of friendship and mutual trust.
Ambassador Forbes spoke with satisfaction about the two countries’ effective interactions within international organizations, including the UN and OSCE. In this context, he underscored that Ireland and Armenia could successfully develop inter-parliamentary ties and cooperate in the EU frameworks, based on the Partnership Agreement signed with the European Union.
