President holds consultation with members of State Commission for Protection of Economic Competition

President Serzh Sargsyan called a consultative meeting, attended by the members of the State Commission for Protection of Economic Competition (SCPEC). The meeting discussed the future activities of the Commission in the light of constitutional amendments. In this context, reference was made to the bill “On amending RA Law on Protection of Economic Competition,” which was approved at today’s Cabinet meeting.

During the consultation, the SCPEC members presented their approaches and suggestions on issues important in terms of enhancing efficiency of economic competition and implementing the priority tasks. SCPEC Chairman Artak Shaboyan reported on the process of fulfillment of RA President’s recommendations issued during the recent consultation on the price hike and the mitigation of its consequences, including the monitoring of highly concentrated commodity markets.

Reference was also made to SCPEC’s achievements and the problems faced over the past few years.
