President Serzh Sargsyan receives renowned heart surgeon Leo Bokeria
President Serzh Sargsyan received renowned cardiologist, heart surgeon, professor, academician Leo Bokeria, who arrived in Armenia on a three-day visit at the invitation of Yerevan State Medical University after Mkhitar Heratsi to develop cooperation and exchange experiences between medical centers.
Greeting the world-renowned physician, the President of Armenia highly appreciated his contribution to the development of cardiac surgery, emphasizing that Professor Bokeria’s innovative methods have saved thousands of lives throughout the world, with many still looking forward to a surgical intervention.
Thanking the well-known physician for his willingness to share with others his invaluable experience, the President considered it to be a God-pleasing mission. Serzh Sargsyan underscored that Armenia attaches great importance to the development of healthcare and the introduction of advanced know-how in medicine. From this perspective, the President highlighted the importance of keeping in touch with the world’s leading experts and expressed the hope that Leo Bokeria’s visit and his contacts with Armenian specialists, the exchange of practical knowledge and experience might be a great support for the development of medical science in Armenia.
Thankful for the warm welcome, Professor Bokeria said he would spare no effort to promote the development of cardiovascular surgery in Armenia. The renowned cardiologist presented the global trends in this field and the possibilities for achieving better results through the use of modern technologies. Professor Bokeria noted that he was impressed with the achievements of Armenia’s medical centers and highly qualified professionals with whom he would be happy to cooperate.
