President receives Foreign Minister of Brazil
President Serzh Sargsyan received Foreign Minister of Brazil Aloysio Nunes Ferreira.
Greeting the guest and highly appreciating the interstate relations based on deeply rooted historical friendship between the Armenian and Brazilian peoples, as well as cultural and other affinities, President Sargsyan hailed the personal contribution of Aloysio Nunes Ferreira to the strengthening of friendship between the two nations.
The President of Armenia recalled with warmth his visit to Brazil in August, 2016 and the fruitful and constructive meeting with President Michel Temer. Serzh Sargsyan emphasized that Armenia is prepared to continue deepening relationships and cooperation with Brazil, which boasts a high standing and plays a serious role in the region and in the international arena.
The parties stated with satisfaction the two countries’ mutual support not only in bilateral relations, but also in international organizations. In this connection, the Foreign Minister of Brazil pointed out that the approaches of the two friendly nations concur in many issues or are very close to each other. Ambassador Nunes Ferreira reaffirmed his country’s position in support of the mediation efforts exerted by the OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairs in the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process.
Brazil’s Foreign Minister praised the large and vibrant Armenian community in Brazil, stressing that Armenians are held in deep respect in his country and, while being Brazil’s dignified citizens, they keep closely tied to their roots. Those patriotic people have gone a long way toward fostering Armenian-Brazilian relations.
Aloysio Nunes Ferreira expressed the hope that his visit will give new impetus to bilateral relations, will help implement the agreements reached at the highest level and outline new horizons for partnership.
