President holds farewell meeting with outgoing Brazil Ambassador
President Serzh Sargsyan received today Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Brazil Edson Marinho Duarte Monteiro, who is completing his diplomatic mission in our country.
Thanking Ambassador Monteiro for his tenure-long fruitful efforts in our country, the President of Armenia noted with satisfaction that the foregoing period was marked by numerous initiatives aimed at developing the Armenian-Brazilian relations in different spheres. President Serzh Sargsyan said the Ambassador had managed to make the best possible presentation of Brazil’s rich and multifaceted culture in Armenia, promoting thereby friendship between the two countries and peoples through culture.
Serzh Sargsyan singled out two remarkable events that occurred during the Ambassador’s tenure of office, namely the 25th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Brazil, which, according to the President, was a good occasion to highlight the warmth and strength inherent in Armenian-Brazilian relationship, and the recognition of the Armenian Genocide by the Federal Senate of Brazil in 2015.
The interlocutors said to have kept warm recollections of President Serzh Sargsyan’s visit to Brazil in 2016 and the meeting held with President Michel Temer.
Serzh Sargsyan wished Edson Marinho Duarte Monteiro every success in his future activities and expressed the hope that the incoming Brazilian Ambassador could follow up the good traditions initiated by Ambassador Monteiro in a way to further strengthen relations between the two countries.
The Brazilian Ambassador thanked the President of Armenia for the reception, as well as for high appreciation of his activities and went on to underscore that it was a great pleasure and responsibility for him to work in hospitable Armenia, which boasts ancient history and rich culture, and which he was leaving with awesome impressions.
