President receives Minister of State for Europe and the Americas at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office of the United Kingdom Alan Duncan
President Serzh Sargsyan received today Minister of State for Europe and the Americas at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office of the United Kingdom Alan Duncan.
Welcoming the guest, the President underscored that Armenia is interested in the deepening of interstate relations with the United Kingdom. Serzh Sargsyan noted that the cooperation potential built up during the 25 years of diplomatic intercourse has not yet been fully realized.
Pleased with the fact that reciprocal visits have been paid more frequently in recent years and appreciating the work of the UK Embassy in Armenia, the President expressed the hope that the trend will be maintained and the Armenian-British interstate relations will be upgraded to a qualitatively new level.
Thankful for the warm welcome, State Minister Alan Duncan conveyed greetings and best wishes on behalf of Theresa May, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, assuring that either the United Kingdom is desirous to develop and strengthen ties with Armenia.
Alan Duncan stressed that his country is prepared to provide assistance to the government of Armenia, based on our country’s economic priorities. The State Minister said to be hopeful that the efforts aimed bolstering bilateral cooperation would lead to increased trade turnover between Armenia and the United Kingdom. Mr. Duncan emphasized that the United Kingdom highly appreciates the latest constitutional reform in Armenia, which he had talked about in the Armenian parliament.
President Serzh Sargsyan assured that Armenia will steadfastly continue to reform different spheres of public life in a bid to strengthen and develop the Armenian statehood.
The interlocutors took the opportunity to talk about the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and, in this context, exchanged views on regional issues and challenges.
