President receives RF Minister of Health
President Serzh Sargsyan received today Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Veronica Skvortsova, who is in Armenia to participate in the Third Armenian-Russian Healthcare Conference.
Welcoming the guest, the President stressed the importance of holding a traditional conference, which provides a solid platform for the two countries’ public and private healthcare institutions to develop cooperation, hold professional debates on topical issues and exchange experience.
“The challenges facing the healthcare sector are among the most acute in the modern world, and they extend beyond the health systems of individual States. These complex problems affect almost all spheres of social and economic life. From this perspective, holding professional discussions like this and experience sharing can only be useful,” President Sargsyan said. In this connection, the President stressed the importance of those issues included in the agenda of the third Armenian-Russian Healthcare Conference, including the ones related to healthcare reforms and the integration processes underway in the EAEU frameworks. Serzh Sargsyan wished the conference successful proceedings.
The Russian Minister of Health expressed gratitude for excellent organization of the Yerevan conference, stressing that the ongoing fruitful cooperation allows her to state tangible results of joint efforts, which will be discussed at this third forum.
Veronica Skvortsova said to be impressed by her visit to the modernized and refurbished Hematology Center after R. Yolyan of RA Ministry of Healthcare. She noted with satisfaction that a large amount of work had been done owing to the efforts and initiatives of the First Lady of Armenia that sought to set up new branches and laboratories, train personnel and introduce the latest technologies, involving leading Russian healthcare centers among others.
The Minister said that as characterized by close cooperation, 2017 is a symbolic year, since Armenia and Russia are celebrating 25 years of establishment of diplomatic relations and the 20th anniversary of the Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance.
Veronica Skvortsova took the opportunity to present the priority directions and programs for the development of the healthcare system in the Russian Federation, dwelling on new spheres of bilateral cooperation with Armenia and the possibilities for exchange of experience. She noted that specific agreements had been reached with her Armenian counterpart on the sidelines of the Yerevan conference.
