President Serzh Sargsyan’s congratulatory remarks delivered at the Independence Day Awards Ceremony
Dear Awardees,
Dear Guests,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I warmly congratulate all of us on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of Armenia’s independence. I also congratulate you on the receipt of Homeland’s high State awards and titles.
The Independence Day is indeed a special day when each of us should try to summarize the past one year’s good deeds and failures. To my mind, every year of independence is another occasion to make an account first of all for oneself, then for one’s colleagues, and finally before the whole society.
It is a pleasure that today we are honoring those who worked with devotion not only during the past year, but also throughout their lives, by serving the country and society and recording serious achievements in their respective fields.
Today, I do not want to single out any profession. All of them, after all, serve the same goal and a common cause called Armenia’s all-out and comprehensive upsurge.
Dear Awardees,
What you are getting today is not a favor or gift from the authorities in the form of medals, orders and titles. It is the appreciation of our nation and country for your important and gratifying activities.
Those young people starting out in life should have benchmarks and guidelines set for themselves. They need to know what is of value to us. We, in turn, set a system of values for the whole society in your example. Thank you for being one of us and strengthening our statehood day by day with high professional standard and a clear-cut civil stance.
I have no doubt that tomorrow we will have more worthy people in our country and will grow ever stronger while celebrating the upcoming independence days.
I wish you every success in service and much happiness in your personal life.
Thank you and, once again, I congratulate all of you.
