RA President receives EBRD President Sir Suma Chakrabarti

President Serzh Sargsyan received a delegation led by President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Sir Suma Chakrabarti.

Greeting the guests, Serzh Sargsyan highly appreciated the years-long fruitful cooperation between Armenia and the EBRD, which for over twenty years now has been a source of indispensable support for economic development and reforms in our country.

The interlocutors concurred in that the cooperation between Armenia and the EBRD is of a strategic nature and congratulated each other on the 25th anniversary of Armenia’s membership of the EBRD.

The parties said to be hopeful that the fruitful partnership between Armenia and the EBRD would continue to develop successfully, and the EBRD President’s visit might give a new impetus to bilateral relations.

Sir Suma Chakrabarti reaffirmed the Bank’s readiness to continue supporting Armenia, stressing that Armenia’s economic policy and reforms went in tune with the projects implemented by the EBRD. He noted with satisfaction that the partnership is expanding and strengthening every year, covering various spheres of the economy.

During the meeting reference was made to the Bank’s upcoming projects in Armenia, priorities, as well as to the potential and prospects for the development of Armenia’s economy.
