President watched Best Sporting Family contest’s final competitions
President Serzh Sargsyan watched today the final round of competitions featuring the fourteenth edition of the Best Sporting Family presidential award at the stadium of Tsaghkadzor Olympic Sports Center.
The Best Sporting Family - 2017 contest was held in three stages, with four age groups and six competitions. 1516 families or 4548 people from Artsakh, Yerevan and 10 Marzes of Armenia participated in the first stage of the competition. 144 families successfully overcame the initial stages. 23 families with disabilities from Yerevan, Marzes and Artsakh also participated in the final round of the competition.
The President of Armenia congratulated the winners, handed certificates, cash prizes and souvenirs, gave Cups to the delegations of Yerevan, Artsakh and Marzes. All of the 144 children having reached the final stage and all the 23 families with disabilities received incentive gifts from the President. The organizers of the Best Sporting Family contest handed to President Sargsyan a Souvenir Cup for his tenth attendance of the Best Sporting Family’s final event.
According to the organizers, from this February through December, 81 192 children and people with disabilities will attend the competitions held under the presidential award of the Best Sports Pre-school Institution, Best Disabled Athlete, Best Child Care and Protection Facility and 7 new mass sports events.
Serzh Sargsyan welcomed the participants and winners of the Best Sporting Family competition, wishing them every success and new achievements.
“Dear participants of the Best Sporting Family republican competition,
I cordially congratulate the winners and, of course, all the participants, because participating in such competitions in family is already a great success. Participation in these mass sports events not only gives us health, but also good mood, perseverance, faith in the future.
I want all of you to look at these children’s eyes to see how much light they are radiating around as an evidence of immense confidence and joy. So, what is happening is appropriate, and we need to constantly promote mass events parallel with professional sports in our country.
I would like to thank the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs, the Ministry of Territorial Administration, the Mayor of Yerevan, the Marz Governors, the Olympic Committee President, all those who have organized and conducted this event. I congratulate you all and assure of my deep appreciation,” the President stated in his welcoming address.
