Newly appointed Ambassador of Spain presents credentials to President Serzh Sargsyan
Newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Spain to the Republic of Armenia Ignacio Ibanes Rubio (residence in Moscow) presented today his credentials to President Serzh Sargsyan.
Congratulating the Ambassador on assuming office, the President of Armenia wished him every success in his diplomatic mission in our country.
Noting that while the Armenian-Spanish interstate relations began to develop over the past 25 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the President emphasized that as bearers of ancient culture and shared Christian values, the Armenian and Spanish peoples had built up friendly relations and used to feel reciprocated sympathy much earlier. The President said to be convinced that this is binding for both sides: stronger efforts need to be made to develop multifaceted ties of cooperation and strengthen bilateral relations.
Thankful for the reception and congratulations, Ambassador Rubio assured that he would do his best to deepen bilateral relationship with friendly Armenia, bring Armenia closer to his country with its rich culture, history and investment opportunities by encouraging contacts between the two nations, promoting business ties and active exchanges in different fields of activity.
The interlocutors took the opportunity to touch upon the prospects of EU-Armenia cooperation. Ambassador Rubio noted that as an active EU-member country, Spain is prepared to assist Armenia on the way to developing cooperation with the European Union. The parties also exchanged views on the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process.
