President receives Japanese Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Motome Takisawa

President Serzh Sargsyan received today Japanese Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Motome Takisawa who is in Armenia on the sidelines of his regional tour.

Welcoming the guest, the President said high-level visits are a good opportunity to discuss the current agenda of bilateral relations, as well as regional and international issues. Serzh Sargsyan expressed the hope that the visit of Motome Takisawa will give new impetus to the strengthening of Armenian-Japanese interstate relations.

President Sargsyan said to have kept kind memories of his visit to Japan in 2012 and the meetings held with Emperor Akihito and the country’s top leadership that went off in a warm atmosphere of mutual trust.

The interlocutors highlighted with satisfaction the recent years’ positive dynamics in the development of bilateral relations. The President of Armenia pointed out that the reciprocated opening of diplomatic missions in 2010 opened up new opportunities for the further development of friendship and partnership between the two countries.

The parties concurred in that the recently activated mutual visits testify to the sides’ willingness to expand the Armenian-Japanese partnership. The meeting touched upon the ongoing inter-parliamentary cooperation, trade and economic exchanges, as well as the opportunities for the furtherance of interaction and programs in a number of spheres of mutual interest, including information technologies, tourism, responsiveness to natural disasters and infrastructural development.

President Serzh Sargsyan thanked the Japanese Government for continued assistance in the development of Armenia through credit, grant, technical assistance and other programs.
