President Serzh Sargsyan Receives Estonia Foreign Minister Sven Mikser
President Serzh Sargsyan received today Sven Mikser, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia.
During the meeting, the parties noted with reciprocated satisfaction that the historically deeply rooted friendly relations between the Armenian and Estonian peoples, which were built on mutual respect and trust, had evolved over the past 25 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
President Sargsyan stressed that Armenia is prepared to further intensify and deepen the political dialogue, in both bilateral and multilateral formats, develop cooperation at the inter-parliamentary and intergovernmental levels in a number of spheres of mutual interest.
Having expressed a common opinion that the cooperation should be given a new quality, considering that expectations and the potential in this respect were quite high, the President of Armenia and the Estonian Foreign Minister touched upon Armenia’s relations with the European Union and the prospects for their development.
Sven Mikser expressed the hope that a comprehensive and expanded partnership agreement will be signed between Armenia and the European Union within the framework of his country’s upcoming presidency of the Council of Europe. Minister Mikser availed himself of the opportunity to introduce Estonia’s priorities as a presiding country.
The interlocutors exchanged views on regional problems and challenges, including the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. In this context, Minister Sven Mikser stressed that Estonia fully supports the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group aimed at a peaceful resolution of the Karabakh conflict.
