President Serzh Sargsyan received member of the European Parliament Frank Engel

President Serzh Sargsyan received today member of the European Parliament Frank Engel.

The President of Armenia welcomed the guest and hailed Frank Engel’s activities related to Armenia and issues which are important for the Armenian people. The President also thanked the member of the European Parliament for visiting Artsakh regularly and for forming the first-hand objective opinion on the site and for learning about the aspirations and mindset of the Armenians of Artsakh through direct contacts.

Noting that the European Parliament is an important and large audience not only for the EU member states and the partners but also for the international community, Serzh Sargsyan in that context stressed the importance of the activities of the friendship group with Artsakh, which is headed by Frank Engel. According to the President, the group provides additional opportunities to present objectively at the European Parliament the just struggle of the people of Artsakh. The President of Armenia highly praised the EU balanced position on the NK issue, as well as the commitment of the EU to create a favorable atmosphere for a comprehensive resolution of the NK problem.

The President of Armenia and Frank Engel exchanged views on the NK peace process and existing problems.

The parties discussed also the Armenia-EU relations and noted with satisfaction works carried out towards the strengthening and development of the cooperation which is testified to by the initialing of the Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement which took place recently, after the conclusion of the negotiations.
