President Serzh Sargsyan received the Director General of the Russian State Hermitage Museum Mikhail Piotrovski
Today, President Serzh Sargsyan received the Director General of the Russian State Hermitage Museum Mikhail Piotrovski who has arrived to Armenia at the invitation of the mayor of Yerevan. Present at the meeting was also his son, Boris Piotrovski.
The President of Armenia welcomed Mikhail Piotrovski in his native city Yerevan, where M. Piotrovski – a renownded archeologist and son of the historian Boris Piotrovski was born. Noting that in Armenia, we take pride in the fact that one of the world’s most celebrated cultural treasuries - the Hermitage for a long time has been led by the individuals who are closely related to Armenia, the President hailed the readiness and efforts of the leadership of the State Hermitage to develop cultural cooperation with Armenia. The agreement, which is to be signed today with the RA Ministry of Culture on examining the archeological material discovered at Red Hill, is a manifestation of such readiness. It implies a joint exploration of the exhibits and archeological discoveries, including those unearthed by Boris Piotrovski long time ago, as well as the exchange of expert and scientific literature and other joint activities.
The President of Armenia underscored that in the Armenian-Russian interstate strategic partnership a big role is assigned to the cultural component and added that he was glad that the relations are becoming stronger by year also thanks to the initiatives such as this one.
Mikhail Piotrovski expressed gratitude for the invitation, warm welcome and for the tablet which in his beloved city of Yerevan immortalizes the memory of his father Boris Piotrovski.
The Director General of the Hermitage presented to Serzh Sargsyan different events envisaged by the program of cooperaiton created together with the RA Minister of Culture, including days of the Hermitage Museum in Yerevan.
