President Serzh Sargsyan received the Head of PACE European Conservatives Group Ian Liddell-Grainger
President Serzh Sargsyan received today the Head of PACE European Conservatives Group Ian Liddell-Grainger.
Noting that the Council of Europe occupies an important place among the European structures, and in general, in the European architecture and that the standards established by the CE in the areas of human rights, democracy and the rule of law have received universal recognition beyond Europe, the President of Armenia stressed the role of the PACE, which represents the voices of 800 million Europeans, in the dissemination of these values.
The President of Armenia highlighted the importance of a dialogue with the PACE as well as with the political groups and fractions represented in the Organization, particularly with the European Conservatives political family. In that context, President Sargsyan expressed hope that the visit of the Head of PACE European Conservatives Group to our country will give a new impetus to the dialogue whose important part constitute reforms carried out in Armenia with the assistance of the Council of Europe and Armenia’s international partners.
Underscoring that the European Conservatives Group along with the European People’s Party, which Armenia’s ruling Party – the Republican Party of Armenia is a member of – are rather influential forces at the PACE, Ian Liddell-Grainger stressed the importance of a continuous and active cooperation with Armenia in the framework of the PACE.
