President Sargsyan’s address at the festive event dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Hakob Paronian State Theater of Musical Comedy
Good evening, Ladies and Gentlemen,
Good evening, dear artists of the Paronian Theater,
I cordially congratulate the Hakob Paronian State Theater of Musical Comedy on its 75th anniversary. This festive event belongs not only to the Paronian Theater, not only to the theater enthusiasts, but to our entire nation because as a one of Yerevan’s and the Republic’s most important cultural centers, the Theater has educated and inspired generations.
For decades, this Theater was gathering under its roof talented artists, true devotees of the Armenian theatrical art: Shara Talian, Artemi Ayvazian, Karp Khatchvankian and others who step by step were creating the image of the Armenian musical theater, and that image has become nice, pleasant, and acceptable for us.
Sharp satire has become the unique and constant business car of this Theater. It is said that through laugher the humanity is correcting its mistakes and bids farewell to the past. We have many mistakes – ours and others’ - to correct and need to bid farewell to many things. No doubt that in our reality, and not only present, we also have had numerous achievements – our culture is superb, aimed at the preservation of the national identity, always developing, however there are also distasteful things which we had to bid farewell to long ago.
I am confident that for this troupe, for this Theater the best performances are yet to come. Mr. Ghazantchian, I am confident that 30-40 years from now, people will gather again to say thank you to those who will have passed the threshold of the Theater’s centennial, and will show their attitude, while your new, excellent performances will become testimonies to our country’s and society’s accomplishments.
I once again cordially congratulate us all and wish new achievements.
Thank you.
