President received Secretary General of the World Customs Organization Kunio Mikuriya
President Serzh Sargsyan received today the Secretary General of the World Customs Organization (WCO) Kunio Mikuriya.
Welcoming the guest, the President of Armenia viewed his visit to Armenia as a proof of the World Customs Organization’s consistency in providing assistance to the reforms carried out in our country in the area of customs administration. Serzh Sargsyan hailed Organization’s cooperation with Armenia and expressed hope that the visit of the Secretary General will become a new impetus for the further strengthening and deepening of the existing cooperation and will allow to assess the efficiency of the reforms implemented by Armenia in recent years in that area.
President Sargsyan wished success to the works of the European regional conference titled “Implementation of the “One Window” principle in the context of the Trade Facilitation Agreement of the World Trade Organization”, which is taking place in Yerevan with the participation of the Secretary General of the WCO.
Kunio Mikuriya said that the convening of the Conference in Yerevan is conditioned by the fact that the WCO has been participating in the process of reformation in Armenia for years, and there was a desire to present Armenia to the neighboring states as an exemplary country.
At the meeting, the parties spoke about the possibility of further developing the years-long efficient cooperation between Armenia and the World Customs Organization, discussed results of the reforms carried out in Armenia with the assistance of the WOC, including the improved charter, modernization of the border check-points, introduction of electronic systems, training of the personnel and the works in some other areas.
