President received delegation headed by the Mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo

President Serzh Sargsyan received today delegation headed by the Mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo which has arrived

to Yerevan on official visit by the invitation of the Mayor of Yerevan Taron Margarian.
The President of Armenia welcomed the guests to our country and noted that he was glad to host in the capital of the entire Armenian nation friends of Armenia. The delegation will attend the festivities dedicated to the 2798 anniversary of Yerevan.

“Certainly, it is very pleasing to celebrate our capital’s anniversary with our friends. We are grateful and always remember and cherish the names of all those people who share not only our pain but delight too,” said President Sargsyan at the meeting with the Mayor of Paris and members of her delegation. The President expressed hope that the visit of Mayor Hidalgo to Yerevan will be efficient and will be signified by new agreements aimed at the deepening of cooperation.

The President of Armenia noted with satisfaction that the centuries-long Armenian-French relations have acquired a new quality and content after Armenia’s independence, and today these relations are defined as special. Serzh Sargsyan hailed the developing and annually strengthening Armenian-French close cooperation in all areas and noted that the regular political dialogue of recent years, reciprocal high-level visits and contacts, cooperation in the legislative and multilateral formats, active cultural and educational ties, decentralized cooperation of over four dozen towns and regions constitute a strong base for the efficient work and create excellent prerequisites for the continuous deepening of the Armenian-French relations.

The Mayor of Paris and President of Armenia concurred that the Armenian community of France has an undeniable input to the establishment and development of the bilateral relations while the bulk of the community is residing in Paris. The President of Armenia expressed gratitude to Mrs. Hidalgo for her considerate and benevolent attitude towards the Armenians of Paris and stressed the importance of her personal involvement in the process of a daily strengthening of the cooperation of the capitals of the two friendly nations. President Sargsyan praised the assistance of the Mayor of Paris and the City Hall to the organization of the annual events dedicated to April 24, as well as Mrs. Hidalgo’s visit to Yerevan on April 24, 2015 as a member of President Hollande’s delegation.

President Sargsyan highly valued the role of France as a Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group and personal contribution of President Hollande to the NK peace process which is carried out for the benefit of peace and stability in our region.
