President hosted schoolchildren who excelled in their studies and the laureates of the international Olympiads

President Serzh Sargsyan received today the schoolchildren, who demonstrated excellent results in the academic year 2015-16, graduates awarded with Gold Medals as well as the laureates of the 2016 international subject Olympiads – Kangaroo International Olympiad on Mathematics and the Bee Armenian Language competition - from the educational establishments of the Republic. Serzh Sargsyan responded to the questions of the participants of the gathering after which at the traditional meeting the graduates and schoolchildren received awards – medals, certificates, and souvenirs from the President of Armenia and the Minister of Education.

The President of Armenia welcomed the participants of the meeting to the Presidential Palace, congratulated them on their achievements, and wished new success.

“Dear Schoolchildren,
Distinguished Teachers,

For a long time now, we every year invite to this hall the school heroes, those who are different from others because of their knowledge, excellence in studies, who graduated from the school with a Gold Medal and participated at the world subject Olympiads, becoming the laureates and winners of the Kangaroo and Bee competitions.

For many it is often their very first achievement, but rest assured that thanks to you and your active participation and to the active participation of all those young people who through the years were invited to this hall to hear the words of encouragement and honor, the future outline of Armenia will be created. I am confident that you will do it using the experience of the senior generation, knowledge of our predecessors and our eternal passion for education. You will also have wider opportunities to open the doors to the world and bring in innovative ideas so that these ideas are ingested, digested, reproduced and improved. This year, the schoolchildren from Armenia have brought home from international subject Olympiads 15 awards – 1 gold, 3 silver, and 11 bronze medals. This is certainly a brilliant achievement, and I am really happy that in recent eight-ten years our schoolchildren win 15 to 20 medals at these Olympiads. Our Physics and Mathematics School alone wins more awards than neighboring Georgia and Azerbaijan combined. It is extremely important and is a great achievement which would bring honor to any nation. I am also elated that the geography of the medal winners is expanding. It is excellent that Yerevan and Gyumri have been joined by Vanadzor. I am confident that in the years to come we will be able to state that almost every region in Armenia has winners of the international subject Olympiads.

I congratulate you all, hug you all and would like to express my thanks to your parents, your teachers, to those who have achieved these results together with you. Pupils ought to strive, ought to desire, while teachers should have the ability and skill to pass their knowledge. When these two conditions are met, we achieve great results. Well done,” said President Serzh Sargsyan in his welcoming remarks.
