The newly appointed Ambassador of Ethiopia presented his credentials to President Sargsyan
Today, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Grum Abay Teshome (residence in Moscow) presented his credentials to President Serzh Sargsyan. The President of Armenia congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment and expressed hope that during his diplomatic tenure he will channel his knowledge and energy towards the deepening and strengthening of the Armenian-Ethiopian relations.
Speaking about historic relations of the Armenian and Ethiopian peoples, the President underscored that the Armenian community of Ethiopia, which had formed back in the 7th century, brought its considerable contribution to the political and cultural life of the country. He said that the centuries-long friendship of the two nations is a solid base for the development of the interstate relations in our times.
Ambassador Teshome noted that in Ethiopia people are very proud of the contribution which Armenians have been making for centuries. He underlined that in addition to the development of the bilateral relations, the two countries also successfully cooperate in the framework of international organizations including the UN. The Ambassador of Ethiopia expressed gratitude to the President of Armenia for the high assessment of his country’s input to the strengthening of peace and development of cooperation in Africa and noted with satisfaction that Ethiopia is actively involved in the peacekeeping missions of the UN and other international organizations.
At the meeting, the parties stressed the importance of expanding the legal field, strengthening of the interparliamentary ties, and creation of the mechanism for consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries. The President of Armenia wished success to the Ambassador of Ethiopia in his diplomatic tenure in our country.
