President received Armenia’s national basketball team

President Serzh Sargsyan received today members of the Armenian national basketball team which won European Championship for Small Countries and representatives of the management of Armenia’s Basketball Federation.

The President of Armenia congratulated participants of the meeting as well as all our compatriots on the occasion of the glorious victory of the national team and wished them new success. “You’ve proved the simple truth that Armenia is one country without Spyurk, without our brothers and sisters, and another country with Spyurk. It is obvious that our unity brings victories such as this one,” stressed the President of Armenia. Serzh Sargsyan thanked the members of the national team and their coaches for the wonderful game and for the efforts aimed at the achievement of excellence in sport. The President of Armenia stressed the importance of success of the talented representatives of small countries and nations in sports through which they make their countries more recognizable for the world. President Sargsyan inquired from the representatives of Armenia’s Basketball Federation about the future plans of the team and about the prospects of development of basketball in our country.

The President of the Federation Hrachia Rostomian presented to Serzh Sargsyan forthcoming plans of the Federation and the team’s ambitions. He also thanked the President of Armenia for the warm reception and for the assistance and attention towards the Federation, which in his opinion was an important drive behind the team’s victory.

At the conclusion of the meeting, members of the Armenian national basketball team on the occasion of the victory presented to Serzh Sargsyan a gold medal and a ball with the signatures of all members of the team.
